ORC
ORC Brief Introduction
ORC systems can generate electric and thermal power by exploiting multiple sources (multi-industries, like cement, silicon, glass, steel, carbon, CDQ etc.; geo-thermal sources; biomass; solar etc.)
In ORC field, as known, Turboden (an Italian firm) is one of the global leaders in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of ORC system.
Since 2018, SINOMA EC keep contact with Turboden for ORC technology communications. In 2020, two sides start to discuss about founding a JV together to further expand the market.
ORC WHR Working Theory
Waste heat recovery boiler firstly exchange the heat from the waste gas to the thermal oil inside the boiler, then the medium-to-high-temperature thermal oil goes to the ORC side heat exchanger to preheat and vaporize a suitable organic working fluid. The organic fluid vapor rotates the turbine, which is directly coupled to the electric generator, resulting in clean, reliable electric power.
The exhaust vapor flows through the regenerator, where it heats the organic liquid and is then condensed in the condenser and cooled by the cooling circuit. The organic working fluid is then pumped into the regenerator and evaporator, thus completing the closed-cycle operation.
ORC Advantages
Simple start up procedures both of the ORC turbogenerator module and of the heat recovery exchanger thanks to ORGANIC fluid characteristics;
No water/fuel consumption, the ORC work in a close loop with organic fluid and air cooled condenser;
Absence of a high pressure ‘vapor generator’ (in a thermal oil boiler a liquid is heated, without phase changing). The presence on site of a boiler operator is not required;
Operation simplicity. Partial load conditions are obtained by modulating a three- way valve on thermal oil side (the ORC automatically responds to the external variation);
Very High Availability (on our references we can see availability about 98%);
Quiet operation and low O&M
Good performances at partial load (more than 90% of nominal efficiency at 50% of the load), under 10-110% load system could long-term stably operate;
Simple and easy-to-clean heat exchanger geometry, the reduced pressure and temperatures of working conditions in a ORC turbogenerator configuration, compared to the high temperatures and pressure of a steam super heater;
